Easy Outfits: How to Layer a Simple Black Sweater Over a Dress

I'm all about black sweaters. Turtlenecks, crewnecks, mocknecks. Give me 'em all! Since I never tire of black sweater outfits in cool weather, I thought it wise to shake up my go-to formulas this Fall and, surprisingly, I veered in a very edgy direction. It all started with this super soft, incredibly versatile, and ultra-affordable black sweater from the POPSUGAR collection at Kohl's - if you've been following along, you might recognize it from this sweater-and-pant outfit and/or this jeans-and-sweater look.

Available in five colors, this $37 sweater features a perfect mockneck, balloon sleeves, and an oversize silhouette - it's my ideal layering piece this season. It has a trendy feel to it, but not so much so that it won't be a fixture in my wardrobe for a few years. With an urge to start layering now that the weather is cooling down in New York City, I reached for one of my favorite Summer dresses from Rebecca Taylor's La Vie line and threw the comfy sweater over it. Then, for an edgy twist, I mixed in the coolest pair of black combat boots with crystal detailing from Jimmy Choo, a pink pouch bag from Zara, sheer black tights, and sharp sunglasses.

As the finishing Fall touch, I swiped on our very own Beauty by POPSUGAR Be Racy Liquid Velvet Lip lipstick in Berry Nice, which, I have to say, is very hydrating on the ole pout.

Now, considering my style tends quite feminine and minimal, this outfit would probably seem outside my comfort zone. But with a few fresh elements at play, including the voluminous sleeves on my sweater, the shades of pink via my dress and bag, and the crystal detailing on my boots, I felt true to my personal aesthetic, but with an edgier twist. Most importantly, the sweater-over-dress styling hack is a comfy one I know I'll rewear throughout the season with a range of boots in my wardrobe both for the office and evenings out for dinner and drinks.

Ahead, witness my cozy-cool outfit and shop the exact pieces to re-create it on your own, as well as a few affordable boots options for $100 or less. And be sure to check back as we continue to bring you more easy Fall outfit formulas, from the newest dress trends to outfits centered around boots and polished trends you can wear to work.

Kylie and Kris Jenner Do Business Meetings Differently - With Matching Outfits and Birkin Bags

Only Kylie and Kris Jenner could make a business meeting look like this chic of an affair. On Sunday night, Kylie took to Instagram to share a photo of herself and her famous momager casually posing on their private plane while wearing matching outfits. "Business meetings," the caption reads. For said meeting, the duo both wore black blazers over black tops that they paired with oversize black sunglasses and nearly identical watches and diamond jewelry.

As if the level of extravagance wasn't already at an all-time high, Kylie and Kris accessorized with the exact same handbag: a metallic, silver Hermès Himalayan crocodile bag that's valued at $150,000. So, yeah, it's safe to say business meetings are conducted quite differently over on their side of town. Read ahead to get a closer look at Kris and Kylie's bags and to shop similar styles.

Camila Cabello Made Her Runway Debut at Paris Fashion Week in a Supersexy Black Pantsuit

Camila Cabello absolutely brought the sapphire moonlight with her when she made her runway debut at the Le Défilé L'Oréal Paris fashion show during Paris Fashion Week on Sept. 28, and who knew pantsuits could be so sexy? Yep, the queen of the oversize tye-dye hoodie swapped her street clothes for a stylish, textured blazer, straight black pants, and chunky heels for a look that's basically the definition of a power suit - no top necessary. To accessorize her look, Camilla went with white hoop earrings, a matching white manicure, and a black ribbon necklace to tie everything together.

The 22-year-old "Señorita" singer wasn't afraid to laugh and wave to the audience as she strutted alongside her fellow models, having fun with her first runway experience and coming away with an important message for her fans. "Genuinely had SO much fun walking for the first time in a runway show with these strong and inspiring women last night - they were so kind, so funny, and so beautiful inside and out!" she captioned an Instagram post after the show. "This was my first fashion show and I'm so grateful it was with L'Oréal where the definition of beauty has nothing to do with what you look like and everything to do with how beautiful you feel.

Camila went on to point out that beauty is diverse and that self-worth isn't determined by physical attributes. "Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, colors, and ages. Obviously I remember hearing 'because you're worth it' in commercials since I was young, but as I'm finding my way and becoming a woman, I realize how important that phrase really is - to remind yourself that you're worth asking for what you need, fighting through life's obstacles and challenges and struggles. You're worth battling fears and doubts because you're worth it - and you're worthy of happiness, and love, and everything good." See more photos of her stunning pantsuit and fantastic runway strut ahead.

No One Had a Better Fashion Week Than the Celebs Who Walked the L'Oréal Paris Show

Runway shows tend to be quite serious affairs. The music thumps, the audience is silent, and the models keep straight faces as they methodically stomp down the catwalk. And then when it's all over, everyone rushes out as fast as they possibly can to get to their next show. But for Le Défilé L'Oréal Paris - the makeup conglomerate's annual fashion show held in Paris and featuring not only professional models but celebrity spokespeople - you'd think you walked into a party for one of your best friends. People cheered, models danced and laughed and hugged each other on the runway, and every single person had a huge smile on their face.

The models and celebrities on the runway were obviously having the time of their lives. Model Cindy Bruna waved to friends in the front row (including fellow model Naomi Campbell), singer Camila Cabello winked and blew kisses, actress Andie MacDowell twirled and tossed her gorgeous waves, actress Aja Naomi King smiled ear-to-ear as she strutted around the circular catwalk, and, of course, the incomparable Dame Helen Mirren closed the show by running onto the runway barefoot in a flowing floral gown, whirling her skirt around with the grace of a flamenco dancer.

"It is fun!" King told POPSUGAR backstage before the show, right at the exact moment that actress Eva Longoria popped around the corner to surprise King and say hi. "I mean, that's what's so great about this [event], because I never get to see Eva or [model] Doutzen [Kroes] unless we're doing something for the brand. And I think that's the other thing, [it seems like for] L'Oréal, everyone has to be wonderful human beings to be here, so that makes it perfect."

"To do this show with people who I've really come to love and respect and know, it offers safety in something that would otherwise be terrifying and intimidating."

"I'm excited to be here and to see the variety of spokespeople that have come together to create this show," actress Amber Heard told POPSUGAR. "You know, the choice to do a fashion show, at Fashion Week in Paris, is a really bold choice. I think it's a bold way to celebrate beauty and fashion and creativity." Echoing King's sentiments, one of Heard's favorite parts of doing the show was being surrounded by her fellow spokespeople. "To do this show with people who I've really come to love and respect and know, it offers safety in something that would otherwise be terrifying and intimidating," she said.

In addition to being a damn good time, the message of L'Oréal Paris's runway show was all about celebrating and uplifting women, something many of the brand's ambassadors were quick to acknowledge. "L'Oréal has done such a wonderful job of standing in solidarity with incredible women and really promoting the belief system of 'You are worth it,'" said King. "Like, however you are, you're existing in this world as a woman and you're worth it - it's just so empowering and so beautiful. And I love that I get to be the face of it."

"When L'Oréal Paris came to me, they came to me not because I was a bearer of some superficial quality - they could have hired 50 other pretty people - but because I represent something and stand for something," responded Heard when asked about why she was proud to participate in the event. "I was honored to be considered among one of those iconic figures on their roster - from actors and singers to gold medalists of all ages and backgrounds - that represent the breadth of female diversity."

Whether you love discovering new clothing lines, wearing It pieces before the masses, or shopping brands that others are less familiar with, emerging designers from Fashion Week are well worth your attention. But even better is the fact that a few of these on-the-rise designers have already dressed some of our favorite celebrities like Beyoncé, Hailey Baldwin, Bella Hadid, Selena Gomez, and Sophie Turner. By counting these major It girls as fans, we're certain these emerging labels are going to get buzzier and buzzier over the next few seasons.

Ahead, discover 14 emerging designers we're betting big on from New York Fashion Week. I Finally Found the Perfect Pair of Black Tights - They Never, Ever Rip

I'm a klutzy person, so I ruin clothes with spills or tears on a regular basis. That's why finding a good pair of tights has always been a challenge for me. In the past, I was constantly running or ripping my tights, sometimes even on the first day of putting them on. I love wearing skirts and boots during the colder months, so black tights are constantly in my wardrobe rotation. After testing dozens of brands for a foolproof option, I have finally found the one.

The Hue Opaque Tights are like a gift sent from heaven - they are so durable and long-lasting. They're only $10, which is a huge bonus. The nylon and spandex blend material doesn't stretch out after several wears, which is a problem I have found with other brands. Most importantly, I have never, ever ripped these tights. My oldest pair was purchased two years ago, they have been worn and washed constantly, and they still look great. As someone who is always bumping into things and falling down, I can tell you that my Hue tights have been through the wringer with no damage done.

Besides being so indestructible, these tights also have a slimming control top that doesn't roll or slide down. Everything stays in place so you don't have to fidget or adjust. The black color has a hint of sheen to it that's subtle and flattering. Basically, I'm obsessed with these tights. If you're in the market for a new pair before the chillier seasons sneak up on you, do yourself a favor and buy these. You'll be saving yourself money because you won't have to constantly get new ones. Keep reading to see where you can buy them and exactly what they look like on. You'll be as obsessed as me, I know it.

Hailey Baldwin Chose the Dreamiest Bow-Adorned Heels For Her Wedding Rehearsal

Hailey Baldwin must've been lurking on my wedding Pinterest board, because she found a pair of heels straight out of my wildest dreams for her rehearsal dinner. The 22-year-old model touched down in South Carolina with husband Justin Bieber ahead of their (second) wedding, and she was spotted in a gorgeous all-white outfit for the preceremony festivities. Hailey chose an ivory off-the-shoulder minidress with a wrapped-front silhouette and satiny finish, pairing the leg-baring number with white Jimmy Choo sandals that featured two oversize tulle bows on the ankle straps. The bride styled the look with silver earrings, a diamond pendant necklace, and a white hair bow.

Fortunately, Hailey's envy-inducing wedding rehearsal heels are still in stock online, but unfortunately for some of us, they cost a whopping $975. Since not everyone's a Baldwin and able to casually drop nearly a grand on one pair of shoes, we tracked down other similarly chic sandals at various, more affordable price points. Shop 'em all ahead, then check out Hailey's far more budget-friendly bachelorette party dress, if you haven't already added it to your online shopping cart.

Ariel Winter's Red Dress Makes Me Want to Hit the Club

The emoji Ariel Winter used in a recent Instagram caption - the kiss and the woman dancing - accurately describe the red-hot number she's wearing in the shot. The actress attended several 2019 Emmy Awards afterparties last week in a form-fitting, midi-length House of CB dress featuring thin straps and ruching. Ariel paired the dress with matching red sandal heels, an embellished handbag, and jewelry by Kallati and Misahara.

In a cute coincidence, Ariel's Modern Family costar Sarah Hyland channeled Jessica Rabbit with her makeup at a pre-Emmys party, and it seems Ariel might've also been inspired by the sexy cartoon character in choosing her slinky dress. See pictures of the red carpet look ahead and shop Ariel's exact dress, as well as similar options.

Vans Finally Released a Peek at Its Entire Nightmare Before Christmas Sneaker Collection!

Calling all Tim Burton fanatics: Vans is releasing a sneaker collection inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas, and in the famous words of Jack Skellington, "I can't believe my eyes!" After initially announcing the Disney-tastic collaboration on Sept. 9, the footwear brand has finally blessed us with a first look at the spooky designs - and they sure as heck don't disappoint.

Much like Vans's Harry Potter-themed range that launched earlier this year, the collection includes apparel and accessories in addition to shoes. There's a patchwork-patterned pair of Era sneakers that pay homage to Sally's rag-doll outfit, Classic Slip-Ons designed to mimic Oogie Boogie's dizzying underground lair, and a cozy hoodie that'll make "Jack's Lament" get stuck in your head, just to name a few standout items.

The Vans x Nightmare Before Christmas collection will be available to shop in stores and on vans.com/nightmare starting Oct. 4, and judging by the buzz surrounding the forthcoming release, we have a feeling Oogie Boogie-loving sneakerheads will cause a pretty quick sellout. Ahead, zoom in on every single piece from the collection ahead of the official drop. Dibs on those black-and-white ComfyCush sneakers!

An Easy, Step-by-Step Process For Cleaning Out Your Closet and Selling Your Sh*t

Like many women, I had lots of excuses for procrastinating a closet clean-out: I was tired; I own too much crap; if I move one shoe, the whole rack will come crumbling down; and anyway, I might wear this stuff again one day! I was shaking in my boots - old boots that I probably needed to throw out - when Mercari Stylist Contributor Anna DeSouza arrived at my door, fully prepared to help me weed through my impressive mess. She was wearing a white t-shirt and tailored black slacks with BaubleBar's adorable flamingo earrings, so my first thought was, "OK, phew, she won't make me get rid of my mermaid earrings."

What about the Madewell mom jeans with my initials embroidered at the waist? I busted open the zipper from gaining a little bit of weight, but I would get that fixed one day and simultaneously lose the pounds, right?

I wrote my whole college thesis around the idea that we form memories in our clothing, and in that way, those clothes define who we are. You can probably guess, then, that I have many prized possessions in my closet that are dear to my heart, like the $10 wooden beaded bag I hilariously negotiated for at a market in Haiti with my future mother-in-law. I got it caught on a door handle and it lost an entire strap, but I retied some strings and now it looks fine! Fine enough to hang in my closet on a hook, because I'm too scared to wear it to the bar and be the girl whose exploding beads cause someone to slip into an unfortunate medical emergency.

And what about the Madewell mom jeans with my initials embroidered at the waist? I busted open the zipper from gaining a little bit of weight, but I would get that fixed one day and simultaneously lose the pounds, right? They've only been sitting in my drawer collecting dust for, like, five months, tops. But Anna had other ideas, and we were about to use the Marie Kondo KonMari method to get rid of the clutter. Anna came armed with so many one-off tips that helped me feel good about the entire process. She also happens to have impeccable organizational skills and taught me how to display my valuables beautifully on my shelves and in my wardrobe.

In the end, I didn't just donate two full bags of clothes, shoes, and accessories, I also collected a pile of pieces that Anna encouraged me to sell on the Mercari app, which has a clean, easy-to-navigate interface and allows users to quickly snap photos, enter designer details, and post products for followers to bid on. Anna and I determined what stuff could potentially have a second life and be useful to other women.

Meghan Markle, who is collaborating with the charity Smart Works to provide people with better workwear, recently spoke at her launch event and tapped into this idea: "When you go into your closet and you say, 'OK, I'm going to make a donation,' you don't toss in a box what you don't care about anymore. That's charity as we know it today. Community is going through your closet and saying, 'This is the blazer that I wore when I nailed my first job interview and got my dream job, and I don't need that anymore, because I'm where I want to be. But if I'm able to share that blazer, and be part of another woman's success story, then that's community.'"

Thanks to Meghan and Anna, I'm now of the belief that every article of clothing has its own story to tell - of its journey from wearer to wearer. So, I'd say this experience was a positive one for me. Though I may have to tweak my college thesis, I learned some tricks I'm about to share with you if you're also interested in recycling or donating your clothes, so let's get to it.

Kerry Washington's $40 "Love" Sweatshirt Is the Ultimate Cozy-Cute Piece For Fall

Our jaws routinely fall to the floor when we see Kerry Washington on the red carpet, but the stylish actress caught our attention for another reason this past weekend: her cozy-cute style. Posting a supercute selfie on her Instagram stories as well as a firey video with Reese Witherspoon promoting their upcoming Hulu show, Little Fires Everywhere, Kerry caught our eyes in an adorable "Love" sweatshirt from none other than the POPSUGAR collection at Kohl's (!!!).

The affordable sweatshirt - which is set to launch this December - is one of our favorite pieces for the holiday season. While it's clearly a cute and cozy piece for winter weather, it also happenes to be the perfect gift to give freinds and family members, coming in at just $40.

Since Kerry's exact sweatshirt won't be available to shop for several more weeks, we've rounded up all the stylish sweatshirts (as well as a few graphic tees) from the current POPSUGAR collection at Kohl's ahead. From '70s-inspired stripes to bow-adorned styles and, of course, a few graphic options including styles for curvy shapes, we're certain this assortment has something right up your alley to pair with jeans, layer over dresses, or to curl up in while lounging.

It's cozy time.

Why Fashion Girls Are Saying, "F*ck the Mall, Shop on Instagram" in 2019

It's no secret that the emergence of the digital sphere has made it easier than ever for brands to be discovered. Through the power of Instagram, the social media #influence of Generation Z has revolutionized "content" as a marketing tool. I would know - my post-dot-com-bubble birth date means that my peers and I were essentially raised online. Our favorite celebrities were too, and now their style is more accessible than ever. Accounts like @closetofhadids give insider info about how to shop exactly like the street style cool girls of today.

This new wave of fashion exposure has paved way for boutique brands to gain traction at a previously unseen pace. A tag from someone with a following allows a lesser-known brand to be instantly shown to millions across the platform around the world. However, it also means that there are a TON of brands to sift through, and we don't always have the time to spend hours perusing Instagram. If you want to find outfit inspo from the *it girls* of 2019, look no further. For those in the market for fashion that can't be found at the mall, here's a list of 23 brands that my generation is wearing.

Easy Outfits: How to Make Your Simple Sweater Feel Like the Coolest Top in Your Closet

As a self-proclaimed cozy queen, comfy sweaters are my kryptonite for Fall. From black and white knits to fun colors, the limit of turtlenecks, mock-necks, and oversize fits does not exist in my book, whether I'm pairing one with jeans, layering one over a slip dress, or styling one with a midi skirt. To give my go-to sweater outfits a trendy update this season, I'm trying out a few trends at once: a balloon-sleeve sweater, snake-print pants, and square-toe boots. A look!

Now, I realize three trends at once might seem like a lot, but clean silhouettes and a monochromatic palette are two simple ways to make these of-the-moment pieces feel cohesive and chic. So, I reached for this supersoft Balloon-Sleeve Funnel-Neck Sweater from the POPSUGAR collection at Kohl's and teamed it with a pair of snakeskin pants by Veda and square-toe boots from Wandler. A black and white bag by Clare V. tied everything together for a day at the office. Though I've already repeated this look for dinner and drinks with friends, too!

Ahead, witness my cozy-cool outfit and shop the exact pieces to wear it on your own. And be sure to check back as we continue to bring you more easy Fall outfit formulas, from the newest dress trends to outfits centered around boots and polished trends you can wear to work.

13 Empowering Moments Where Diversity Ruled the Runways of Fashion Month

Each season, more and more designers are tackling the issue of diversity, but I'll be the first one to say it's a slow burn. Being an Indian person in fashion, I understand the importance of feeling represented, and it's an amazing feeling when you get a glimpse of the industry evolving each season. Some designers, like Christian Siriano and Prabal Gurung, have made it their mission to champion body positivity and include an array of curve modes in their shows, but sadly, we know this isn't always the case.

While we still have a ways to go, it's important to take a second and call out all of the amazing moments we saw during the Spring/Summer 2020 season of Fashion Month. Curve blogger Tess Holliday made a statement in a white dress that had the words "Sample Size" written all over it during the Chromat show. Collina Strada and Kate Spade New York took a stand against ageism by including models from all different ages and backgrounds in their shows. For his last collection with Euphoria star Zendaya, Tommy Hilfiger had Ashley Graham walk down the runway after announcing her pregnancy. Hijabi model Halima Aden made an appearance, too! Read on to see 13 empowering moments from Fashion Month.
