15 Holiday Outfit Makers, According to Our Editors

Our winter fashion staples often end up being the basics we repurpose at holiday parties, and more often than not, they're noticed by fellow guests. From standout pieces like gold, architectural drop earrings or that snazzy silk dress to more tried-and-true clothing (think: lug-sole boots and leather pants), we consider them all seasonal essentials. Some of these picks were definitely splurge-worthy, like our fashion director's luxe Manolo Blahnik mules or style director's eye-catching Wandler bag, but as our editors promise ahead, they'll get the most wear this time of year, and they never fail to instill a little boost of confidence.

While these pieces are less trendy than some of the other ones we own, we don't know what we'd do without them. Ahead, shop our most valued purchases at a range of price points, and decide what's missing from your wardrobe.

But, when you do need to leave, the trouser-like leg and tapered bottom of joggers in particular make them just as cute with booties and heels as they are with sneakers. Check out everything from sherpa to microfleece in colorful patterns, cheery solids, and a rainbow of neutrals ahead.

12 Incredibly Cool Ways to Wear Your Scarf This Winter, Style and Comfort Guaranteed

Symbols of comfort and warmth, scarves have rightfully earned their status as winter wardrobe essentials. While wearing one when it's cold is nothing groundbreaking, designers have reimagined this necessary layer in new colors, fabrics and prints - making a cool case for enlivening our cold-weather outfits.

From bright checkered prints to vibrant colorblock styles, this season's scarves feel modern and exciting. Typically made in a wool blend, knit or cashmere fabric, they will provide plenty of warmth, and often add a little luxe, too. Tied over a tailored trench coat and laidback jeans, a rich green scarf for example, will convey a relaxed off-duty look. Draped over a top and paired with trousers, a solid-colored scarf will lend any look some sophistication. While you contemplate which one to invest in, feel free to tie your cable-knit sweater around your neck for the same outcome. Scroll on for creative ideas to incorporate these new scarves into your closet, and ahead, meet the styles that are worth taking home.

Congratulations Are in Order For Billie Eilish, the Youngest Person to Receive the PETA Award

PETA named Billie Eilish its 2021 Person of the Year, recognizing her commitment to animal protection and activism within the fashion industry. She is the youngest person to receive the annual award; previous recipients include Joaquin Phoenix, Pope Francis, Oprah Winfrey, and Anjelica Huston, among others.

"She gets people to listen-and not only to her music." the company shared in an official statement. Among the many reasons cited, PETA mentioned the singer's powerful night at the MET Gala, where she showed up in a floor-sweeping Oscar de La Renta gown (after convincing the team to stop using fur), and used her role as the event's co-chair to influence the menu (they served exclusively vegan meals). This will come as no surprise considering the Grammy winner's unwavering commitment to promoting a vegan lifestyle.

Furthermore, her passion for sustainable fashion manifested when the Grammy winner partnered with Nike to launch an Air Jordan shoe collection this year, which featured sneakers that were 100% vegan leather with over 20% recycled material. The following release of her first perfume upheld those same ethical standards as it was made without animal-derived ingredients and wasn't tested on animals.

"Billie Eilish is making sure that the party's over for meaty, milky meals as well as for leather, fur, and silk," PETA President Ingrid Newkirk continued. "PETA is happier than ever to celebrate her for seizing every opportunity to point out that vegan fashion and foods are kinder to the animals and the planet we share with them".

Join us in congratulating the 19-year-old star!
