Summer Knitwear Is 2021's Next Big Trend, and We're All In

This time last year, the bulk of your wardrobe likely consisted of sweatpants and loungewear. As tempting as no-effort dressing may be, we personally cannot wait to revert back to fashion with a capital F. Still, some sartorial elements of lockdown, like last fall's knitwear boom for instance, have aged like a fine wine.

If recent celebrity style is any indication (see: Kylie Jenner's Dion Lee crochet top and Memorial Day crochet bikini), one thing is clear: we're headed for a Knit Girl Summer. The plethora of creative knitwear options are already off to an impressive start, with Batsheva and Ella Emhoff's recent collaboration among the most recent to hit the market.

Trends are often symbolic. For us, summer knits represent hope, with lightweight fabrics, vibrant color palettes, and a sense of effortless ease. After a whirlwind year, we're here for pops of color and standout prints. Surprisingly versatile, these eye-catching styles can work for the pool or dinner al fresco. Keep scrolling to shop the knitwear pieces we're coveting for summer 2021.

Here We Are, Standing By For a Whole New Season of Kat Edison's Impossibly Cool Style

Just a few episodes into The Bold Type, it hit me: I was waiting to see what Kat Edison would be wearing. Played by actress Aisha Dee, Kat quickly became one of my favorite characters to watch on television, precisely because I never knew what she'd be wearing. Walking the line between cool, casual, and a little glamorous and fashion-forward all at once, Kat's looks, crafted by costume designer Lisa Frucht, are fun and a little fearless, too. She's bared her midriff at the office, balanced a floaty top with camo pants, and shown us again and again the kind of eclectic, sometimes-dressed-down style you can actually wear to an office, or at least a creative one.

From bright blouses and trousers when she started her gig as head of social at Scarlet to a bolder, more unique aesthetic, Kat's style has continued to evolve with her character's departure from the magazine, into politics, and onto her next chapter. While we eagerly await to see what the final season holds - fashion-wise, and otherwise - we're taking a look back at her best moments so far. Won't you join us?

22 Things We Can't Stop Dreaming About From Shopbop's Big Weekend Sale

A Comprehensive Breakdown of BTS's Style, By Member

If we're being honest, there's simply no one doing fashion better than BTS right now. An acronym of Bangtan Sonyeondan or "Beyond the Scene," the seven-member K-pop sensation from South Korea has become an unstoppable juggernaut in the music industry - breaking streaming records and selling out stadiums with (seemingly) the ease of throwing up a Korean finger heart. And their runaway popularity extends to their show-stopping style, too.

For the uninitiated, BTS's wardrobes reflect their superstar status with a continent-hopping array of labels ranging from American streetwear to Parisian couture and Japanese artisan fashion. Whether it's hypebeast sweats or tailored suiting, unbridled glamour or effortless cool, Jin, RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook always look good. Like, really good. Let's worship a little, shall we? Read on as we break down BTS's style, idol by idol.

It Doesn't Get Any Sexier Than Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly's Couple Style

When it comes to stylish celebrity couples, a few come to mind - Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik, Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid, Beyoncé and JAY-Z . . . the list goes on. But what makes these duos stand out isn't just whipping up great outfits; they find ways to complement each other without compromising their own personal flair, creating fashion moments to remember. A (relatively) new couple on the scene, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly have done just that, quickly developing a striking sense of couple style that has put them at the top of my watch list.

The actress and the rapper have always been fashion risk-takers - Megan practically wrote the book on sexy red carpet looks and MGK's rocker style requires a whole lot of experimentation - and together, their daring pop-punk approaches just work, without feeling too cheesy or matchy-matchy.

While their intriguing matching looks at last week's Billboard Music Awards (more importantly Megan's epic cutout dress) were simply incredible, the couple's most fashionable moments aren't just reserved for red carpets. Even their laid-back date-night outfits manage to look expertly coordinated with minimal effort. Ahead, take a look back at the pair's best looks together.

Lela Rochon Saved Her '90s Movie Premiere Dress, and Her Daughter Just Wore It to Prom

Waiting to Exhale actress Lela Rochon, who starred in the 1995 Whitney Houston film as Robin Stokes, saved her red satin premiere dress and fringed shawl - and thank goodness she did! Twenty-six years later, her daughter Asia Rochon Fuqua is repurposing the number for her prom night. Asia shared some snaps on her own 'gram, too, showcasing how she restyled the chiffon scarf twisted around her neck later in the evening for a bathroom selfie with friends. She also wore a pair of silver tasseled earrings to play up the detail on her cover-up.

"Yes I saved the dress❤️... wasn't sure why but now I know #vintage @adamchristophermakeup ⭐️," Lela wrote on Instagram, giving Emmy nominated makeup artist Adam Christopher a shout-out for helping to bring the '90s look back to life. Famous friends Gabrielle Union, Vanessa Bell Calloway, and Diann Valentine were mesmerized when they scrolled by the Instagram post, leading them to post comments similar to Valentine's "Wow, she looks so much like you. Lela reincarnated ❤️❤️❤️."

Ahead, see the two-piece look in 1995 on Rochon and on its way to Asia's prom in 2021 as she posed for photos with her date, Chase Harleston, and dad, film director and producer Antoine Fuqua.
