Halle Bailey's BET Awards Look Includes Hip Cutouts and a Plunging Corset

Halle Bailey played with all the latest trends for her latest appearance. The singer made her red carpet debut with boyfriend DDG at Sunday night's BET Awards in a gorgeous all-black outfit that deserves our attention. Featuring a plunging corset top and floor-length maxi skirt with dramatic hip cutouts, Bailey's Monot outfit appeared effortless yet striking.

Bailey kept the rest of her ensemble simple, with just a gold necklace and a few colorful bracelets. DDG matched the musician with a head-to-toe black outfit of his own, wearing a vest layered over a long-sleeve turtleneck, fitted trousers, and Prada loafers. The rapper piled on the accessories with a stack of silver chain necklaces, bracelets, and thin rectangular shades.

Bailey and her sister Chloë are nominated for best group this year, alongside Silk Sonic, City Girls, Lil Baby & Lil Durk, Migos, and Young Dolph & Key Glock. Chloë, who wore a sequined one-shoulder gown with cutouts, is also set to perform at Sunday evening's ceremony and nominated for multiple solo awards.

For the 2022 BET Awards in Los Angeles, celebrities went big and bold with their red carpet looks. Despite the scorching summer temperatures, many of Black entertainment's biggest stars - from Billy Porter to Lizzo - stepped out in lavish, long-sleeved ensembles that featured show-stopping design elements. Others, however, opted for more minimalist pieces, like host Taraji P. Henson, who wore a sparkly gunmetal one-shoulder gown accented with a large chain link necklace that draped along her back.

Lizzo - who is set to perform at the show tonight and won the BET Award for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist back in 2020 - arrived wearing a floor-sweeping navy blue lurex gown with feather accents on the sleeves and hemline, a dazzling shimmer effect on the fabric, and a thigh-high slit. She completed the look with peep-toe platform pumps.

In addition to Henson and Lizzo, celebrities like Chloe Bailey, Marsai Martin, and Victoria Monét went with their own interpretations of glittery, highly embellished looks.

On the casual end of the style spectrum, performer Jack Harlow made a statement with his red carpet choice: a Lil Nas X T-shirt, showing his support for the 23-year-old hip hop artist who has spoken out about being snubbed from the BET Awards.

Billy Porter Takes Shoulder Pads to New Heights at the BET Awards

Billy Porter brought the avant-garde to the BET Awards. The actor attended at the June 26 award show in Los Angeles wearing quite the statement-making Rick Owens outfit consisting of a grey crewneck knit top with bell sleeves and sharp pointed shoulders, paired with a matching skirt featuring a train and vertical seams. Porter completed the look with platform boots that have lucite heels and a grill detail at the toe, also by Owens.

Porter has become known for his dramatic style. There was the all-gold "Sun God" outfit by The Blonds he wore to the 2019 Met Gala, and the blue Botter suit and umbrella hat he wore to the latest American Music Awards. Porter also inspired many memes when he appeared at the 2020 Grammy Awards in a Baja East hat with a mechanical fringe, which he would later reveal was inspired by a Gucci veil Billie Eilish had previously worn to an award show.

Porter has been very open about experimenting with different silhouettes and challenging traditional gender expectations. He told Stephen Colbert on "The Late Show" in 2019, "We've moved beyond the idea that women wearing pants is a problem - thank you Katharine Hepburn. Women wearing pants is powerful, it's strong, everybody accepts it, and it's associated with the patriarchy. It's associated with being male. The minute a man puts on a dress it's disgusting." Porter added, "I'm not doing that anymore. I'm done with that. I'm a man in a dress, and if I feel like wearing a dress, I'm going to wear one."

Lizzo Shows Off Her Feathered Sleeves and Thigh-High Slit at the BET Awards

Lizzo proved her red carpet prowess at the 2022 BET Awards. The "About Damn Time" singer arrived to the show in a Gucci gown and showed off every dazzling detail as the cameras snapped away. Custom designed by Alessandro Michele, the dress is constructed of a shimmering navy blue material and features a plunging lace-trimmed neckline plus a slit that nearly reaches up to her hip. The gown's billowing sleeves and floor-sweeping skirt are both adorned with black feathers at the ends for a glamorous touch.

With input from stylist Jason Rembert, Lizzo kept her accessories minimal, wearing black platform heels and silver diamond earrings. Celebrity hairstylist Shelby Swain gave her regal finger waves and styled her baby hairs into perfectly placed curls. A swipe of blue eyeliner and a glossy "supermodel lip" completed the star's look.

Jack Harlow Protests Lil Nas X Snub With His BET Awards Look

Jack Harlow is making a fashion statement to support his friend and fellow collaborator at Sunday evening's BET Awards. On June 26, the "First Class" musician showed up to the red carpet in Lil Nas X merch following the "Montero" rapper's nomination snub. Harlow, who released "Industry Baby" with Lil Nas X last year, wore a black graphic tee emblazoned with photos of the rapper, which he paired with black Givenchy pants with a chain, as well as derby shoes from the brand. Harlow, who's set to perform at the ceremony, has been criticized for his nomination for best male hip-hop artist as a white rapper.

Prior to the show, Lil Nas X called out the network after receiving zero nominations this year, despite being awarded with various accolades from the Grammys, MTV VMAs, and AMAs earlier in 2022. On Friday, the rapper released "Late to Da Party" featuring "F*ck BET" lyrics. He also recently detailed his "painful and strained" history with BET in a statement to Rolling Stone, sharing that his performance at last year's award show came with several stipulations and grievances. However, the network has claimed Lil Nas X's statement to be "simply untrue" and said that, despite their love for the rapper, he wasn't nominated by BET's voting academy.
